Important Things to Know about Nike Sports Camp Programs
Camp Registration Packet
Detailed camper registration packets containing check-in location, health/release forms, emergency contact info, and a list of things to bring will be emailed to all registered campers one month before the camp starts. A sample registration package is enclosed. Most camp health and release forms do not require a doctor's signature and they will be collected on the first day of camp. There are also parental permission forms for many off-campus trips that must be signed and completed.
Agents acting on behalf of campers may sign these.
International camper must have health insurance which is valid in China. in order to attend camps. Supplemental health insurance which is valid in China may be purchased through GCISD. These forms are included in each camper registration packages.
We recommend that international campers bring $75-$100 in spending money per week. Your child’s spending money will be placed in a “camp bank” at check-in and it will be available upon their request. We do not monitor individual camper spending. Your child is responsible for their own purchases. Please make sure your child has cash as there are no facilities nearby to exchange money.
Important Things to Know about Nike Camp Programs
Credit cards are discouraged. However, if a camper brings a credit card with them, please let the camp director know and we can keep in the camp safe. International campers who are not enrolled in all-inclusive package will need to pay the required camp activity fees, linen fees and deposits outlined in the registration packages.
We will hold all airline tickets and VISAs/passports for safekeeping. Campers should turn these into the Camp office with other valuables, i.e., upon arrival.
Cell Phones and Electronics
Expensive radios, cameras and other electronic equipment are not recommended at camp. Cell phones are the exception. However, cell roaming charges can get quite expensive. We recommend that cellular data roaming be turned off and only turned on only to contact parents and other family members. A camp phone will always be available in the camp office, should campers need to make a phone call home. (In this instance we recommend that your child purchase prepaid international calling cards.)
Additionally, campers may choose to Skype with parents in any of our camp offices.
Please contact your local cell providers for more information on how to limit your data roaming charges and to make sure your child has a cell phone that will work in China.
Please note that cell phones should be turned off during any language or sport instruction periods – which are from 8:30am-5:00pm daily. There is no need for a camper to have a laptop or tablet at camp at any time and therefore we do not recommend that they bring them. If they do bring these, we suggest that they are locked in the camp safe each day.
